Getting Started

What is CitizenAce?
CitizenAce is a mobile app designed to help you prepare for the Canadian citizenship test. It includes study materials from the Discover Canada guide, practice quizzes for each chapter, and full-length timed mock tests that simulate the real exam experience.
Do I need an account to use the app?
You can explore the first 3 chapters without an account using Guest Mode. However, creating a free account lets you save your progress, track your study streaks, and access additional content. Premium features require a subscription.
How do I get started studying?
  1. Download the app from the App Store
  2. Create an account or continue as a guest
  3. Start with Chapter 1 and read through the lessons
  4. Take the chapter quiz to test your knowledge
  5. Move on to the next chapter and repeat
  6. When ready, take mock tests to simulate the real exam
How long should I study before taking the actual test?
Study time varies by individual. We recommend completing all chapters and achieving at least 80% on multiple mock tests before scheduling your real exam. Use your Readiness Score as a guide—aim for 80%+ before testing. Most users study for 2-4 weeks.

Using the App

What is the Readiness Score?
Your Readiness Score (0-100%) estimates how prepared you are for the citizenship test. It's calculated based on: chapters completed (30%), quiz average scores (30%), and mock test average scores (40%). Aim for 80%+ before taking the real test.
How do mock tests work?
Mock tests simulate the real citizenship exam: 20 questions, 30-minute time limit, 75% passing score. The timer starts when you begin and the test auto-submits when time runs out. You'll see your score breakdown by chapter at the end.
What are Study Streaks?
Study streaks track consecutive days of learning. Complete at least one lesson or quiz each day to maintain your streak. Building a streak helps develop consistent study habits. Your current and longest streaks are shown on the Progress screen.
Can I use the app offline?
Yes! Once content is loaded, you can read chapters and take quizzes offline. Your progress syncs automatically when you're back online. Premium users get full offline access to all content.
How do I reset my progress?
Currently, progress cannot be reset within the app. If you need to start fresh, please contact support and we can help reset your account.

About the Citizenship Test

What is the Canadian citizenship test?
The citizenship test is a requirement for becoming a Canadian citizen. It assesses your knowledge of Canada, including its history, geography, government, rights and responsibilities of citizenship. Most applicants ages 18-54 must take the test.
What's on the test?
The test covers topics from the official study guide "Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship." Topics include Canadian history, government structure, rights and freedoms, national symbols, and geography. CitizenAce covers all 11 chapters of this guide.
How is the test formatted?
The test is typically 20 multiple-choice questions with a 30-minute time limit. You need to answer at least 15 questions correctly (75%) to pass. Our mock tests are designed to match this format exactly.
Is CitizenAce affiliated with the government?
No. CitizenAce is an independent study tool created to help you prepare. We are not affiliated with the Government of Canada, IRCC, or any government agency. Always check IRCC's official website for the most current requirements and information.
